Fire Inspector
Lieutenant Matt Angelo
Lieutenant Fire Inspector Matt Angelo has been employed with Center Point Fire District since 1989. He begin his career in the fire service while a student at Erwin High School, where he was part of a health program that allowed him to ride with fire department personnel after school in exchange for academic credit. This was the stepping stone for his career.
Lieutenant Angelo began working in the radio room as a dispatcher during his senior year of high school. Shortly thereafter, he attended firefighter recruit school where he obtained his state certification as a firefighter. Through the years, Lieutenant Angelo advanced from being the rookie firefighter on shift, to becoming a lead worker and apparatus operator. He now works in the Fire Marshal's Office where he is serving as the Fire Inspector.
Lieutenant Angelo has received many certifications from the Alabama Fire College, including Fire Fighter I, Hazard Materials Technician, Fire Inspector I, II, III and Arson Investigator. He is also a nationally registered Emergency Medical Technician.
Lieutenant Angelo is an active member in many state and local organizations, including the Alabama Association of Arson Investigators, the Fire Marshal's Association of Alabama, and the International Code Council. He continues to broaden his education by attending seminars on life safety, fire protection, advanced arson and fire marshal agendas.
Lieutenant Angelo works closely with the cities of the fire district, particularly Center Point, Clay, and Pinson, to help maintain code compliance and life safety. His goal is to provide citizens of these cities with the the utmost in professional service.
