  Fire Chief William "Gene" Coleman has been employed with the Center Point Fire District since June 1979. He became one of the youngest paid members at the Center Point Fire District at age 16.  

Chief Coleman academic achievements include a Paramedic Degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham and numerous Alabama Fire College Certifications, 

Chief Coleman is an active member of many local, state and federal organizations such as the Alabama Firefighter Association (Fire Rescue GPO Representative) Alabama Association of Fire Chiefs (Fire Explorer Advocate), International Association of Fire Chiefs, International Association of Firefighters, Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs, National Emergency Number Association (Past Fire Service Service Representative), Association of Public Safety Communication Officials Jefferson County Association of Fire Departments (Vice President), Central Alabama Fire Chiefs (Past President), Birmingham Firefighters Association, Greater Alabama Fire Service Explorers (President), Motorola Trunked Users Group,and Alabama All Hazards Incident Management Team.

Chief Coleman has received the following awards: President's Award for the Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs, Service Award for the Central Alabama Fire Chiefs Association, Employee of the Year for the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service Department, Emergency Medical Technician of the Year for B.R.E.M.S.S. Employee of the month for the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service Department, Outstanding Public Service Award by the Civitan of America, Distinguished Service Award by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Association, Outstanding Service Award; Camp Challenge for the Boy Scouts of America, Distinguished Service Award by the Boy Scouts of America, and the William H. Spurgeon Award by the Greater Alabama Council. 

Chief Coleman strives to provide Leadership and direction for the Center Point Fire District and the citizens the Fire District Serves.
